I wish I wasn't such a big baby about showing, I would love to enter one of my Orpingtons. I'm just too scared of the risk of catching an illness though.

The list of entries also has eggs, so maybe you could enter her eggs? It's always a risk bringing / entering any small / large critters in any kind of event.

How are the little peeps doing?

Lorie said the blue eggs didn't hatch yet. Maybe you could candle them tomorrow?

I might be able to enter some of my Ameraucana eggs, yeah!

Lorie sent me a picture today of two chicks, or was it you Daphne? One of them looked like a pure Ameraucana, when was the last time you spoke with her. The two chicks where so cute!

Jeremy,

I just text'd her ... she said she last ck'd around 1:30 p.m. ... the two you saw, another egg cracked, and another had a small hole .... be surprised tomorrow!

Help! We were just adjusting our heat lamp and the light bulb burnt out. The only store that I can think of that is open is Walmart. Is there a light bulb we can get to last the night until we are able to pick up another red one at the feed store?

We've just used a regular light bulb - not those that look like a spring/coiled - about a 60 or 75W, I think, not even a red one .... ditto for my friend who has raised chicks for years ...

What wattage do you use?

I think it was 60W or 75W ... just make sure the chicks can move away from the light if it gets too warm ... NOT an energy saver coil type one, as they don't give out heat

Thank you for the help! We have a 150 W bulb that we put in there for tonight. We are adjusting the height to get the temperature right. They sure seem to like the white light better than the red light. They calm down as soon as we turn it on.
