Bay Area BYCers!

It has been two weeks now since we slipped the three under the big black pancake and ours our thriving. At first, I kept following them around with the waterer because I hardly saw them drink. Neurotic human mama here, too! But Precious is such a good mama and when she wants back in the brooder, she just stands by the door and waits for us. She is vigilant about keeping all the other hens away from the babies except for our Golden Sex link Omelet. She allows her to be all around the babies and even eat the treats that she puts down for them. It is so fun to watch the flock dynamics!

My chicks are a week old today, so far momma and the babies have stayed separate from the rest of the flock by means of a dog exercise pen. I bring them out of the coop in the morning and then open the kennel into the pen where they can learn to scratch in peace.

I'm mostly afraid of one of my fatty Orpingtons accidentally smushing one of the tiny babies!

Most of you know that my best friend is suffering from Cancer. They now have found a blood clot and is on bedrest hoping that it will dissolve instead of going to her brain or heart. I've been with her most of the time.

I really need my friends help on this thread. She has a wonderful, sweet, sweet sweet lovable chocolate labrador that she just can't take care of anymore. I already have 2 labs and can't take him. If anyone knows of a loving caring family that can take him for free, please let me know.

Max was a rescue and came to live with Sharon 3 years ago. We estimate his age to be about 6 years, he has just recently had all of his shots. He seems a bit lean to me but with a family that can take care of him properly, I'm sure he'll fatten up in no time!

Max is really the sweetest dog. He loves being with people. Very sweet with kids of all ages. Just a gentle soul. We are looking for a new home ASAP. Here are some pictures of Max and the coop/run that I built at her house. I'm taking care of the chickens daily, they really bring Sharon so much joy.

Oh Cheryl, if I had the space needed for a larger dog to be happy, I would take him in a heartbeat. He's a gorgeous guy.

We just couldn't have a really big dog where we are now- our Corgi, Toby, gets to be the "big man" around here.

Hi Cheryl,

We lost our dog of almost 14 years in December and we *might* be ready for another dog. My husband will take a bit of convincing. Can we meet Max, possibly on Sunday? Hubby will be out of town til then.

Also, any idea if Max is good with kitties? We have 7 indoor ones.

Ohhh I hope he wins you over on Sunday. I have tears in my eyes now.

I don't care for Lab except the chocolates and he's a very pretty dog.

I had a hard time finding good wellies. I got some great chicks and have 4 pullets and a cockerel in the growout pen now, BUT my babies in the brooder? Looking a little upright and already getting some pretty green coloring. Looks like I'll have at least one for anyone who needs a roo. I forget the lines. Have to go back to the person I got them from for that.

My AMs???? I wanted at least a roo. Well I have at least a pullet! In every color, but only one pullet from each.

I love my roos, but geez!
