That would be fantastic! Thank you!

This is only my first round of culls/rehoming. I hatched A LOT of chicks over the past couple months... more than I thought I had... so I'm swimming in youngsters. I'll probably hold on to most for at least another month, then I'll be able to cull those who don't fit into the breeding programs. These girls are going first because they're clean faced, that is something that I just will not breed into my line.

They will make wonderful layers though!

Dawn, j'aime beaucoup votre Chantecler, elle regarde si douce et féminine.

That White boy is quite a handsome fella!

Merci Beaucoup! La Chantecler est tres curieuse, mais elle ne l'aime pas quand je la touche!

I am hoping Mr. White (thinking of a name for him) stays nice (and gorgeous!). He and Lil' Joe will then be my roos. Too funny the Wheatie girl! When I opened the door she hopped right out, ran over to a mud puddle and lowered herself right into it! Maybe her name should be "Miss Piggy"!!

Well, I woke up this morning to this.

Alice is now my third Orpington who has tried to go broody and she (thinks she) means business. I even tempted her with some scratch and she wouldn't budge!

I ended up pulling her off of the one egg she was sitting on and moving her to where the rest of the flock was. Silly chicken.

Dawn, I like to give my Ameraucana boys "old" and somewhat "country" names.

My main flock sire is Claude, my little Blehm boy is Hoyt. I'm thinking about naming the Splash Wheaten cockerel Harold, which actually was my grandpa's name.

If this is not the right forum for this, please let me know.

Ethan Cock (formerly known as Ethel) is an 8 week old Welsummer cockrel. He is shy but docile, and is very attentive to the 3 pullets he was raised with. By day he is pastured in my back yard in a bird netting tent (we have hawks in the neighborhood) and sleeps in a secure coop at night.

Unfortunately, San Francisco doesn't allow roosters so I'm trying to re-home Ethan now before he starts crowing. I don't want to feel pressured to give him up to the local animal shelter where he might be euthanized due to lack of resources.

The feed store I bought Ethan from has a policy of taking back cockrels; however, they advised me that if I didn't want to make the 45 minute drive to the store that I should take him to the nearest Home Depot and give him to one of the day laborers there!

I really wish I could keep him - he's a real sweetheart! I would love Ethan to go to a loving forever home with a pasture to roam on and a friendly flock to hang out with, but if he's destined for someone's stewpot (gulp) I would like him to be able to live the best possible life until the big, bad day comes.

Here are some pictures:

If someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it!!

Hi locals! Just putting out the word now that I just purchased BBS Am hatching eggs from Pips and Peeps, and will likely be rehoming any black roos I get. Maybe blues as well, depending on if I get any splash. I already have my sweet Bleme Black roo Bubba that I got from Orphingtonmanor (stef), so won't need the blacks. So if anyone might be interested in the future, let me know and I will keep your info. So excited to finally getting my BBS eggs - lost a bunch of auctions, must have been because I was waiting for these!

Such a nice Stink Eye from Alice! Wowie, she looks serious!

Here's the Yet-unnamed white AM dude. Swear to God he runs over to me as soon as I pull out my Android phone for photos!! Jeremy, I like the idea of old-fashioned names, so am thinking either "Norbert" which is an Old French name composed of the Germanic elements nord "north" and berht "bright, famous," hence "bright northman" or "famous northman." (white like snow like north...get it??

) or D'Artagnan in the Three Musketeers. Any votes, friends?

Here's Lil' Joe and Girls tonight. My barn cat was meowing for me and he wasn't happy about it! Lil' Joe was diligently watching out for his ladies when I let them out to forage after the rain passed by @5pm. He prefers the Splash girls here, who are still too young for him, the BCM, and the Blue Cochins, I've noticed. Wonder why he (mostly) ignores the other girls???

So I'm in a bit of a predicament, I got some eggs from another byc member for my broody Giant Cochin to sit on. Well 4 of the eggs we got were horrifically damaged with like scrambled yolks and all. She's been sitting on them for a week. I candled I don't think the ones shes one are viable either. If I slip day old chicks under her....do I wait to whole 20 day incubation period to do this...now I have to figure where i'm going to get her chicks from

I also have a broody sizzle I had to find eggs for.

Melina, you should be able to slip day olds under her without a problem. I think Concord Feed is still getting chicks and I know Mike's in San Leandro has them.

If your broodies can wait 11 days I should have some Blue Wheaten Ameraucana chicks then. I've got 16 viables in the bator.

What eggs did you get from someone that were so scrambled? Was the packing job no good? If that was the case I would ask for a refund or at least another shipment of eggs.
