Bay Area BYCers!

The zoo sounds good to me, Jeremy! Of course, I don't really care where we meet as long as we do meet! We wouldn't be able to bring any chickens/chicks though, would we? Do we have to pay the full amount ahead of time or just a deposit? If we had 80 people last year, I think that we will probably have more this year but the smaller site should have plenty of room for us. 84 people paying $3 a piece would cover the rental. And if we had 100 people then it would only be $2.50 per person! If that amount is a hardship for anyone, I'm sure that some of us would be willing to kick in a little bit more to help out.

They have descendants & cousins of my goats there! Oakland zoo has a pair as well... in the petting zoo. Great idea for a Chickenstock site!
I'm just 7 miles north of the fairgrounds and have yard space (half acre minus tiny house & a bunch of coops) if anyone wants to camp here.
wow alot has happened while I was unable to get in here... was busy trying to save a baby goat who had tetanus, and both cars are refusing to start, so I was stranded & missed the whole show

Walt your Shamos remind me of the Azil (sp?) my son fell in love with at Stockton. Someday...
Glad to see you're all still here,
Laurie

Jeremy I am more than glad to help in any way I can. Let me know where & when to send money.
Are we going to BBQ & potluck it? I went to Cheryl's last year but don't know if that is what you are calling the "Chickenstock". I think that turned out well & now that I actually know some of the people it will even be better. Sometimes it's hard being the "New" kid on the block. Not that anything about me is new, or a kid.....LOL. I hope alot of "New" people make an effort to come. I certainly want them to feel welcomed.
I will try to get together some raffle prizes if you want to include that again. Mine will be mostly craft type things though since that is what I do.
If you make up a sign up list of supplies needed I will bring the paper goods, plates, cups, napkins & eating utensils. Do we need tablecloths?
Anyway......I watch this thread daily & will watch for more details.

Ok sorry I'll try not to overload you guys on new puppy pics but these are from his first morning home, couldn't resist. Dyann came over last night and gave him tons of snuggles.

OMG CHERYL, I'm in love. My mom and I recently lost our dog I think I told you last November, and she was heart broken so when she was good and ready we went and got a Toy Poodle and she isn't yappy or anything what's really scary is how many characteristics of our other dog she has. She is the SWEETEST thing ever and I love the hypo allergenic makes my life so much easier. Just the up keep is a bit more daunting but we found a really good groomer.

So happy your new little one filled the void. Yes groomer... we'll be on the lookout for a good one experienced in this breed. Sort of like interviewing a hair dresser. A bad haircut can be so embarrassing for a little fuzzy love bug

I'll have to start asking around...

The Lafayette art and wine festival is happening this weekend. It's a really great festival and takes up the whole main street. Bay Area chicken folks should try to come down. Really good wine & beer, great food, fun music and great quality booths. We could maybe meet and go to the ranch where I have my breeders. I'm bringing my silver pencil girls to meet their man tomorrow, should be fun. http://www.lafayettefestival.com/

I'm
thinking about taking the puppy and just holding him, I'd hate to keep him crated all day. Thing is I'm imagining that it will be much like carrying kids. (I vaguely remember) Squirmy and will want to get down, but he can't because he needs more shots...

I've never been to the festival, but I found it online seaching for chicken happenings that I could add to the California thread, so I also share here.

Jeremy, don't worry about me. I rarely go to things like this since my husbnad died anyway. I wanted to try this year, but Halloween time is a busy time for me. This yera especially. I make everyone's costumes and without BIll to help, I'll be working like crazy. Plus a have what's called a Wido Bago that I need top be out and panicing already about that.

I still down't mind helping in some way.
