$20?

I'm having my daughter check for properties, but nothing I can do till next September. Still I need super cheap, so she checks around.

Theres a house for sale across the street and they're doing the same thing. They just hung an open for business sheet on the iron gate. I can't believe the cops don't do anything. The house was cute and well taking care of, but they've ripped out the wiring, stole a huge AC unit from the roof, just trashing the place. It was only $54k and now $49k. Heck the AC was 6k, so there's no break. The next door neighbor called the agent and he said, "well someone will just get a better price." Makes me mad that they only use ReMax when they've gone way down the last few years. They used to be #1, but they just don't care what they put the neighbors through. When my daughter has a listing she puts someone in the property to keep it safe. Wish she had more RE going on so she could give up her other job. I swear the people that move into these homes and tear them up are like roaches. Turn the lights on and they scatter.

This house that DH looked at has been on the market for over 2 years. The price has dropped 8 times during the 2 years. It has dropped $100,000 2 different times. It was originally listed for $850,000 and now they are asking $420,000. It is in an area with some very expensive homes. If we were just a few years younger or quite a few dollars richer, we would consider taking on the challenge.

Back in the day, we used to buy and flip or rehab. These days I can't keep this crackerbox clean, so a major rehab that once excited me would have to be torn down and replaced with an RV. LOL

That is a great investment although without knowing comps and recent appraisals you never know.

Hello my Fellow Chickeners

Charlotte here, from Northern California! Brand spanking new to the site, like a pullet egg lol.

I don't have any chickens yet, but I'm so lit up about the possibility of having chicks of my own very soon!

This is my sweet cat Sabrina. She's such a snuggler! I hope that she'll behave with the chickens!

Bye Bye!

Hi Charlotte and Welcome!

My cats get along fine with the chickens.

If you are close to Vacaville, Animal Rescue has about 300 chickens(seven or so are Roosters) for adoption.

So my hectic day became a nightmare.

I had lots of running today and got home at 4 and started looking for a box so I could meat up with Mud_Man to give him an OE.

A few days ago I made some a feeder and waterer out of 2 big detergent bottles. They're the kind with the spouts. I put nipple waterers on them and I was stupid. After Bill died I found at least 10 spools of plumbers tape around here and put it ???????Who knows where. I waited a day and then decided since they hadn't leaked they were going to be alright.

I went out to get the 2 pullets I was going to let him pick from and one of the nipples had come out of the bottom. Yesterday I was trying to fix a pen and feed and water and just glanced across the garage to check on them. I could see them eatting and drinking at one end, so didn't even walk over to look down at them. I should have. I had 4 chicks (2 were the pullets) completely stuck in wet wood chips. I could smell it when I walked in the garage, but didn't know how bad it was. My little Silkie was covered almost to his neck. The other 3 were stuck. I was afraid I was going to hurt them getting them out. I have a feeling they were stuck since yesterday. They were dehydrated and thin. I just cried like a baby. I've never seen anything like that.

So I called Mud_Man and told him what happened, so he could back out. He didn't. I washed and blow dried everyone and put the girls in a box with crumbles and a piece of apple and stuck the other 2 in a box with a feeder and waterer. My little Silkie died notlong after I got home. I really wanted him too.

I called the furniture store before I left and asked if they'd save me a big box that I could pick up in the morning. Then I started crying again. I sure do that a lot these days. The guy that delivered my son's mattresses told me not to worry and that he'd stop by after they closed and drop one off.

I was out in the garage with a flashlight until almost 11, setting up a fresh brooder. Note to self: Buy more wood shavings! I have 2 cckerels in there that are the same age as most of the chicks in there and they are HUGE. I put everyone in and then noticed they don't let the others eat when they're awake. I now have the thing divided and they are separated from the others. They all look so happy now. Not the 2 bullies, but the others. They eat drank and lounge while I looked for something to make a top to see into. This box is enormous, so the other one didn't fit. They even started dusting in the shavings. Funny thing is not one of these other birds was wet or cruddy. The other box was big too, but they mostly ran off when I'd try and pick them up and the 2 big ones would be looking to see what treat was being brought in. Don't know why I didn't realize that they were the problem.

Anyway, Mud_Man now has 2 pullets instead of one and they've had a second bath. Oh and I had given them a ton of food to eat while I was washing and blow drying (another note to shelf: Don't blow dry a chick that's eating next to a dark brown carpet. Crumbles fly!) so they looked deformed with these huge crops. Him and his wife were a little worried that they had tumors. LOL

If I don't find all that darn tape by tomorrow, I guess I'm going to have to buy more. I get more like my husband by the day. If it wasn't readily available he figured it was always better to have more.

OH! I do like my feeder though. Kind of proud of myself with this one. To bad they couldn't get to it.

OK I need yet another shower.

Yes! Proud to have two new pullets in the household!

That box must be big like a refrigerator box. What do your home-made feeders/waterers look like? I am wanting to build a feeder/ waterer that'd last awhile since I'm gone a lot with work. I don't want to keep the wife busy with all my chores while I'm away. I've been looking at those PVC designs on the site.

Thanks again wolftracks. Sorry for all the mess/ hassle and your silkie. Oh and what was the name of the event that you said I should take her to so I can try to get her more into chickens/poultry?
