That would be great, but I have a couple of tight weeks, before there's any money around here.

He (Robert Blosl- famous for heritage breeds) isn't shipping until it cools off where he is in Alabama, not even sure if he's charging me. I could ask him for a few hens for you too (I'm getting hens to improve size and type on the spprs)Shipping of course, I'm very tight on funds right now too, can't do anything really for at least a few weeks

Wouldn't it make more sense to cross your SPPR birds to a good Barred Rock line? Like the birds kathyinmo has...

Put a SPPR male over Barred females, the offspring would be sex linked, with males being a messy Barred/Pencilled combo and the females being all Black with some penciling.

You then breed the biggest and typeyest females back to a SPPR rooster to correct color.

That way you don't have to deal with White genetics, as White can be genetically very tricky to work with due to what can be hidden underneath the color.

I have a friend that did that with the barred rocks here in CA, (and I'll be getting some of her F3 eggs this spring, but I've been advised by 5 different master breeders to do it this way...

Cool.

I'd use the Barred birds if it were me. The Barred Rocks Kathy has are spectacular, I can't really imagine a better representation of the Plymouth Rock breed.

When Denny comes to my house from Paso Robles I think she says it takes 3 hours or so. I will give myself extra time. I don't mind being early but hate, hate, hate to be late. You are welcomed to ride along with me Kim. It will save your gas.

Yup, I'll be there Friday with our 38 birds that are entered. It is a two show event, so I need to try to rack up some points. As of today they have 1100 birds.

OMG do you know if white rocks and leghorns will be there...I need to hook up with a good breeder of exhibition stock (as you know)

Teri Gaarde in Modesto has a daughter that shows White Rocks. I have birds from her & I am sure she can help "hook you up" with some herself or point you in the right direction.

Oh yes I've heard of her and her birds, apparently awesome!

We need a place to stay...everything seems booked

Blue Partridge Brahmas, imported from Germany. I'm getting chicks in january that I will start breeding late summer 2012.... I've secretly been drooling over these birds before I even started breeding!

Beautiful birds Cheryl

Jeremy I'm also using the BR's, but I want to add whites too.

Seems the BRs are easier to find though, so the project now is to get a couple of whites and barreds and work from there. I just love these birds. Rockette has become so pretty. I wish she was bigger, but I really need to get a pic on here, so I can get some comments. Yes I know she needs work, but that was the whole idea. I like being able to do something fun and build up.

Karen I just might take you up on the ride. You know how I am about that, but I do want to go. Do you think you can find out about those whites for us?

OK now I need 2-3 BRs and I'm good. Have to be nice ones though.

I just found a white AM breeder. Took lots of strength for me to walk away without birds, but once I get my bin coops done, I know where I'll be going. It's a secret though. LOL He's not supposed to have birds.

Still trying to figure out what I can come up with for the zoo. I could be really bad and ask a friend in San Lorenzo to make something cool and pick it up. LOL I'm just trying to give myself a reason to take time out and see her.

I lost another Wellie pullet. I've lost both cockerels and 3 pullets now. When I first got back into chickens, this is the main breed I wanted and I can't even get them grown out. I do have one pullet from an earlier hatch that is starting to redden up. Hoping to see an egg soon. Still I'm so bummed I think I only have 3 left in that pen. Everyone seems fine, but than I had just put her in with them, so maybe the smothered her. I have a doghouse in the run and that's where I found her. I'm thinking of snatching the other younger one and my blue BCM out of there, before something happens to them. I was going to move Rockette and Fat Girl in there today, but changed my mind.
