Bay Area BYCers!

I believe Greenfire is selling them at $19 per chick, so it sounds like you'd be getting a pretty good deal. I've got 6 little Swedes growing out right now, they're almost a month old. Each chick is so unique and different. I REALLY like them!
I wouldn't buy any of the Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons though. The quality of the LCs in the US right now is very poor.

Thanks for the advice, Jeremy! I've been drooling over those flower hens ever since I first saw them. I kind of like that each one is unique. Do you have any pics of your 6? I would love to see them!

And of course you are welcome to any that I currently have hatched... columbian plymouth rocks, black orpingtons, silver penciled plymouth rocks just to name a few!

Thank you, Cheryl! Your birds are all so beautiful that it makes it hard to decide! I would love to see your adult birds before making a final decision. Of course, I have a bad habit of wanting every kind I see so that might be dangerous!

So... who all is interested in the Duane Urch chick order?

I'm in for at least 6-10 chicks, depending on how many other folks want to join the order.

We just moved our Orpingtons from their coop on the second level of our property to the first. The creek has rose about 5 feet in the past 6 hours, the hourly forecast predicts steady thunderstorms until about 2 AM. From our property to the creek bed is about a 6 1/2 foot drop, there is now only about 6 inches of space between the now rushing water overflowing onto our property. My Orpingtons pen will probably be covered in water within the hour, they're now safely tucked into my Sumatra's breeding coop, away from the flash flooding.

This is what I do now on Friday nights.

Gosh Jeremy, how worrisome.I remember your creek ordeal last season. How is that bird by the way? Here I was thinking how lucky you were to have a creek running through your property....Maybe NOT huh?????

Wow Jeremy! I know exactly how those creeks are there. What a pain. Do you have your coops up off the ground? Sounds like you need some sandbags or something out there.
