My bad! I should have mentioned one key factor why we would prefer to go AI: he is considerably bigger than she is; she's more bantam size
Oh, well I guess that makes more sense.

You should contact pips&peeps here on BYC, she worked on a bantam to LF Chocolate Orpington project a few years back, and had to AI some of her birds. If she can't personally tell you what you need to know, I'm sure she could point you in a reliable direction.

What breeds are you trying to get to mate?

We call it the “San Francisco Super Breed“ project
1f60d.png

We want to create a breed that is:
-super quiet (city chickens...),
-super friendly,
-good layers,
-cold hardy (aka fog resistant)
-small-ish

Here's what we decided to go with in the end:
Faverolles (bantam)
Bielefelder
Olandsk

We're hoping to cross these three breeds over several generations to benefit from hybrid vigor in addition to each breed's advantages. Really excited to see what comes out!

Does anyone know where I could find a breeder for dominiques, RIR, or australorps? Looking to add a rooster and hens to my flock, and options on cl have been sparse lately.

Where do people usually find chickens for eggs In the bay area??
