Hi Debbi! Okay, I get it. I'm trying to find a feed store in Paso Robles or someplace that will sell it so Aaron can pick it up on his way home!! I like the soy free and GMO free..... My birds won't eat pellets...they like the crumbles.... I think they are spoiled!

LOL!!! Mine are spoiled, too! I've been fermenting their feed and they are loving it. I also have pellets for them in our PVC feeders but their consumption of the dry feed has gone way down since I started giving them the fermented feed. I'm not sure if the new King feed comes in crumbles or not. Your chooks may have to learn to like pellets!

I am so embarrassed to admit to this but very glad that there was a happy outcome. I'd put a half barrel in the run filled with dirt for a dirt bath for the girls and I guess over time they just kicked most of the dirt out without me noticing. Our "missing" chicken must have hopped in anyway and turned the barrel onto herself. My 7-year old found her today when he was messing around in the run. I'm so relieved I have a curious child. Billie seems none worse for wear. She popped out a couple of eggs during her ordeal (I wonder if there were more and she just ate them???) She was fed some nice wormy treats and got a nice free-roam in the sun this afternoon. We celebrated by buying a couple of chicks to add to our flock soon. Chicken math at it's best...

HA! my TURKEY did this. She used to like to roost on my firepit cover and jump up and down. One day she managed to flip it over on top of herself. She was upset and a bit dirty but otherwise unhurt. She did not bounce on that thing again.

How is everyone this morning? it is a beautiful day but the chicks are getting wild, they are jumping out of the mini brooders and running around the floor.

Pumpkins is trying to go broody, anyone know how to break a broody turkey? I candled the turkey eggs I had under a broodie last night, and they all look different then the early eggs but no veining yet that I saw. But they went in on 2/28 so its a bit early. I thought I saw a baby in one, however.

Anyone ever broken a broken a broody turkey? she needs to keep laying I need eggs!

They are! They are trying to fly EVERYWHERE and sneaking into the big girl cage. SO I think I'm sending the big girls home with you too!

They are not THAT big, they are 4 or so weeks old, But the little olive eggers run in and play wiht them all the time, its cute.

Debi if you wouldn't mind, could you either add the information for Scotts Valley feed to the Feed Store page or post in in the CA thread and I'll add it. That goes for anyone else that has feed store info. The link to all the pages are now in the membership page and a link to that in the first post on the CA thread. I'm working at moving things on to their own pages, so things are easier to find. There will be more pages soon, just trying to catch up. There are several new pages. Some are closed and I'll add info, the others are open and you can add your info. The breeders list is now in format, so if you need to be added to the list, go to the page and copy the format, changing your infor from whichever you copy. We are now doing it by breed, so if you have more than one breed to add, please do one for each breed.

Still have to build the breeding pens at the farm. I am taking the girls out there tonight along with my Bresse trio. That Bresse boy can really crow! And the egg songs are getting ridiculous! I am going to miss them but don't want my neighbors upset with me. It had to happen some time! I can't get babies if I have the girls and the boys are at the farm!

I hear ya. I have way to many here and I'm trying to hatch out more breeders. I started collecting for the Easter hatch and once I got to 83+ eggs I sat last night writing on eggs and when I went to set them I had a pip, so decided that even though I didn't want to hatch that many for the big hatch it looks like I'll be doing it anyway.
