Bay Area BYCers!

Mountain View has a four chicken limit? Hmm... I guess it's good I am just on the Sunnyvale side of the Mt. View line. I have six bantams, although I was planning on just having four...

Mountain View has a 4 hen limit, no roos. I might keep one of the next batch I hatch, who's to know?

How hard was it to give them away? I'd love to hatch a few but I can't keep more than one or two more

I put an ad on Craigslist and someone came and took the whole lot a few days later.

What do the Joe's chicks look like? Are they Leghorns?

Yes, Trader Joe's white eggs hatch out White Leghorns. Great birds! Laying machines. My TJ's roo was GORGEOUS; his comb was like a sail on his head it was so huge! I hatched out three pullets and a roo; later gave away two hens as part of a "rehoming package" for my "excess" roosters, and the TJ rooster sacrificed himself protecting his three Josies from a neighbor's dog.

My remaining Josie is close to three years old and laying like a champ.

I think that's about the age my first ones were too. I sold them since I didn't want Leghorns, but they sure were cute.
