Bay Area BYCers!

woohoo

Just found out I'll be getting a dozen+ Indian River eggs (they are Delaware roo over New Hampshire hens and they look like Dels) AND a dozen+ of Patridge Plymouth Rock eggs to go with my buckeyes!!

Let me know if anyone is interested in some

I'm sure hoping for another girl. Can't put Jane in the run alone. I'm still hoping that Marilyn is a she.

Would anybody be interested in some EE chicks in the upcoming months, or even some Olive Egger chicks?

I want to add a few more colored eggers to my layer flock, but not a dozen. I thought about incubating 12-18, keeping 2 or 3 and selling the rest, but only if I have folks lined up to take the other little ones.

Anyone interested? This will probably happen around March/April. I'm just trying to figure out my hatches right now, spring planning!

I got my husband a cheap 3-egg incubator for Christmas. Before we go all out with this, we thought we'd try it old school style on a tabletop first to see if it's something we want to pursue/invest in.

We are trying to decide what we want to try to hatch. Is there a type of chicken/egg that is better for beginners? I don't want to mess with banties or anything like that. We are all easter eggered out (we have 2 EEs, an Olive Egger, and an EE/gamefowl mutt cross & we think she'll probably lay blue/green because she has a pea comb), so we're looking for a different breed. We recently had to put down our RIR and wellie, and we're thinking maybe of hatching out a couple of those.

Any thoughts/ideas from my local folks? Anybody from 'round these parts got three fertile eggs they'd like to sell?

I wish I had fertile eggs to give you! But my hens won't even give me any...

I think Happy Chooks is in the Sac area, she has a Welsummer roo, so she might have some pure Wellie eggs if you wanted to try and hatch some of them. Also, there's a breeder in Concord that has Light Sussex and Barnevelders.

And the little divas got to come out in the sun for a while today!

Here's a nice couple of shots of DH and Marilyn.

Ernest watches patiently while DH holds Marilyn.
