Pet Rock how old are your grand kids? I have 4 too.

I was getting a visual myself reading. LOL

Only 4 grandkids???

Holidays must be so much calmer than mine. LOL

How many do you have, Kim? Holidays are pretty wild around here with my six kids, two spouses, and four grandkids! That's 14 around our big dinner table!

How old are yours?

4, 3, almost 2 and 4 months. All girls!

How fun! I am really enjoying our new baby girl! She is just starting to interact with full body smiles and coos. Love it!

I just reread my post and it sounds like I have two spouses!

It should have said two kids in law or two kids' spouses or something like that!

LOL I did read it twice, but I figured it out.

Bill had 10, but they're back in PA, so between the two of us..................................................28!

I have 6 kids and he had 4. Two of mine still have zero. My youngest is still at home. He's 14.

Yes Kim, holidays are pretty calm these days. When I was a kid we had these HUGE get togethers with everyone (my parents both come from big families and all their siblings had a few kids) and everyone would get louder and louder trying to be heard over the next person (Miller's all talk at the same time). So by the end of the evening everyone's throat is sore from practically yelling non-stop...

My DH has only one sister and he doesn't understand how I can consider our holidays "calm". He thinks they are complete chaos! He has no idea!

What's really sick is that I actually miss the circus-like holidays of the past!

It just doesn't feel like a real holiday when there are less than 40 people in the house. My grandmother used to bake about 20 pies to handle our huge groups way back when and they would all dissappear, even after stuffing ourselves with all the other tons of food that were brought by everyone. Last few years here have been 20 or less most of the time! It's down right quiet! DH still looks at me like I'm crazy if I say that in front of him though.

have either of you grandmothers read The Grandmother Principles by Suzette Haden Elgin? If not, you should consider it. It's a great read.

Wow! You have me beat! Two of mine are married and have 2 kids each. One son is off on his own living the single life. My youngest son lives at home and is going to our local community college. My oldest daughter lives with me, works at Starbucks, and helps me homeschool the youngest daughter who is 9. One of my friends who has 7 kids has a snappy comeback for people who tell her that she has her hands full. She just answers back, "Full hands and full heart!"

Thanks! I'm always looking for another good book.

Our two youngest (the boys) are out on their own but both still single. The youngest is only 20 so I tease him that he should wait a while! The 27 year old says that he has a wierdo magnet in his forehead (we agree) so he needs to wait as well! The oldest daughter (31) has only 1 daughter and the second daughter (30) has 3 little girls.
