Bay Area BYCers!

Still looking for a breeding partner for the buff-laced brahmas. Let me know if you know of an honest person that would have fun with this project!

I just got home from meeting Karen (sewandgrow), she took home with her 1 dozen of my Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. I hope you have a great hatch Karen!

Linda & Jerrilynn... I'm still patiently waiting to see pictures of the new grandchicks.

I found my broody hen off her eggs when we got home, she had spilt the waterer we had in her cage and most of the bedding had gotten wet. Luckily the eggs were at the far end of the crate and were still warm. I cleaned everything up and she has settled down again on her clutch. 2 more weeks still to go... we will see what happens...

BTW, my goat vet says Cipro is essentially equal to Baytril, in dose too, in case you have access to that. Happy birthday to dad, & I sorely wish i could helps with the BL Brahmas. They are awesome!
All, Re Silver AMs; my one silver is always looking up & trying to fly to the ceiling.
Re all the other Blehm chicks... all are healthy, & going outside in an enclosure in the front yard, away from the other birds, sprinting & partying, etc. The Partidge Chanticlers look like 3 pullets 2 cockerels, the buff Chanty I don't know, the Wheatie AMs look like pullets but one is darkening & slowing growth a bit so we'll see.
Re GIANT Eggs.... Me too! One of the favs is laying double yolkers several times a week, & the others' eggs seem bigger too.
Have a great week!
Laurie

Oh jeez, I just helped 3 chicks hatch. They were completely shrink wrapped, all made it out and are drying now in the bator.
My nerves are shot!

I know that all too well lately.

They're cheeping up a storm in the incy now... it's a bit comforting, when they go quiet is when I start to worry again.

SO out of my Wayne Meredith Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatch I had 8 make it out on their own, 2 of those died a couple hours later. That left 6 BIG fat chicks running around the brooder. Plus these 3 I just hatched, that puts me at 9. IF they all survive the next couple hours.

I put 20 eggs in the bator, 16 went into lockdown. Now I'm left with 9 babies, so that's a little of 50%, not bad for shipped eggs from Wisconsin, I guess?

My nerves are still shot though.

Jeremy, due to the move in the middle of Jerrilyn's incubation, she only had ONE egg hatch - and it wasn't one of "your" three. So I gave her two my six hatchlings. (6 of 7 eggs I kept.)

Here are a couple of photos I took this evening of some of the total Easter Hatch I have in their own brooder right now.

I hope they grow up to be beautiful birds for you Linda to live at your beautiful new home up in the mountains!

ETA: I'm so happy too that you had such a great hatch! Was it 6 of the 7 or was it all 7?
