Bay Area BYCers!

Those were my first birds over 30 years ago! I loved them, but they are different now and I can't find what I was looking for.

Thank you Cheryl! I'll check when I get back from the auction. Taking some babies today.

Jeremy! Chickens are like Lays. You can pick just one! I agree on the white birds. Most of my Silkies are white. I like darker or unique coloered birds. I love the colors on these SPPRs that I got from Cheryl.

My problem is I also get stuck on a breed and decide I'm done and then I get an additional color. I'm not doing to good on getting extra coops done fast enough for some of them. Have a rental, I have to had coops that are can be removed when I' move from here, so nothing like I would have if I owned property for now.

I remember when I was going to only have blue AMs. Now I have black, blue, lavender and BBS. I just couldn't stop.

I wanted one Lav Orp roo and have a chick that isn't sexed yet and I just added another lav. Oops!

Already contacted Kathy! hers are amazing!

Yes I sold (practically gave away) sir giles and 3 girls. I still have 2 girls and sir giles hatch mate is in clayton, so conceivably I could get him back, but he wasn't as sweet as sir giles.

I have the buff laced brahmas that are 6 months. A dozen- 2 month old silver pencilled rock and 3 wheaten marans pullets (5 1/2 mth old fitz and 3 mth old cree) just need a good rooster now + a dozen cree eggs in the bator.

How are the Araucanas different today from those bred 30 years ago?

I would LOVE to hear more about your first birds, did you take any pictures?

Oh, sad.

Sir Giles was handsome, he seemed very friendly when I met him the last time I stopped by your house.

Do you still have those Faverolle chicks? Have you thought about raising Salmon and Blue Salmon Faverolles? They are very pretty, too.

I lost all of my pics in '89.

They looked similar, but the eggs were huge and I didn't just have blue egg layers. They laid rainbow eggs. All different colors and just beautiful. Kind of like the colors they sell at Easter with the mulicolored swirls. You never knew what the egg was going to be colored like. Even got my high school colors in purple and gold. LOL

There's a guy in Union City that I really need to find, but ot sure how. He still had these birds. When he brought in eggs to show off he was shocked that I knew about them. I could never get him to give up a pair or even hatching eggs. I may go hunt for him if he's still around and see if I can beg for some.

When I got back into chickens after years of exotic, those are the birds I wanted. I was really disappointed when all I saw was blue eggs. If I found them again and was able to get some, I think I would even give up every bird I own now if I had to do that and I LOVE my birds, but I want those that bad.

Any ideas on a new breed then?
