I was supposed to get married and move there years and years ago when all they had was huts.

Still never been anywhere.

I have 5 Wellies so far and I don't know why I said the other was a GLW. It's actually a Cochin. Hoping I get more babies. No more pips, but keeping fingers crossed.

Glad to hear about Cheryl moving home! Sorry to hear about the babies and hens folks have lost.

And wanted to report - the babies are growing up. Tonight was their first night sleeping on the "big girls' roost"! I went in and there they were up with Mama Buffy, up on the big girls' roost...

I talked to Bridgette a couple of days ago & she does have them but she has left for Colorado for 6 weeks & has a house/chicken sitter til she gets back. She says she has nothing to sell this time of year not in anybreeds I think she meant. She said later in the Fall she will have started birds for sale. I was looking for a couple of breeds for a friend & one for myself. I am going to try LF Salmon Favorelle Silver Dorkings. I resorted to hatching eggs again. My first batch of Silver Dorkings arrived terribly damages so the breeder very willingly has resent. My Salmon Favorelles have not arrived yet & I put the Patridge Pendesencas in this morning. Those eggs were surprisingly dark. I had never seen them before & no longer trust the pictures I see on line....LOL
Hopefully I have Mottled Javas hatching tomorrow. I am soooooooooo bad about NOT candling. I can't see through my Marans eggs or the Ameraucanas so I just leave everything. I guess I am a lazy hatcher.................maybe that should be my sign in........LOL

Great news Kim. Let me know if I can help out in any way. You have my number.

karen did you get my pm?

Sorry Cheryl,
Yes I did. I just didn't know what you were looking for though. I do want to sell off some of what I have been hatching & growing but I am having a terrible time learning what is what in all these chicks.....LOL. I have been getting pointers from Harry Shaffer & Paul & Angela Smith on the Ameraucanas but I am lost becuase some of them are still pretty young. Jeremy is going to try to help me too once I get pictures. I am hoping to keep a quartet of each selected breed & pass the other along.
What exactly are you looking for???

Karen, Bridget's Faverolles are very nice. I've seen them in person and they were big, beautiful birds. I think she has a few different genetic lines that she keeps too, so she has excellent biodiversity.

Other than breaking some Broodies.

Now I can't get Fannie out of the box in her pen.

I bought Stinkin Silkies for broodies and they do nothing, but everyone else??????

Saw momma and the babies just now. I thought I saw more yesterday, but looks like she has 4. They just jump around a lot and stay hidden. They're under the bush I'm going to remove. Well it's actually a tree the removed before we moved in, but it was the only shade last summer and Dakotah talked me out of chopping it back. I'm going to leave it for a while, until SIL decides what he's doing with landscaping. That's always been my job. Kind of nice to get a pro, but most days he's hanging off the side of Devil's Slide where he's been working for over 2 years.

Machanic just called. He forgot what time is was. LOL...My car may be done. It's driven him crazy, but he thinks he has it fixed

The transmission system is different from the other years, so he can't service that, so now I get to give it to one more shop. I doubt it was ever serviced before I got it. I just need to get out of the house. I've been carless since the last day of school. Luckily Jesse's in simi close, so Makayla decided we should take her wagon and go buy layer pellets last week. LOL This is right on tme, since I'm down to 25lbs each of starter and pellets.

I think my hatch is done. I ended up with 5 Wellies and 1 Gold Laced Cochin. The other cochin was the one that pipped first, but it died only part way through the zip. I was excited to even get one although a pair would have been nice, but the breeder has offered to send more eggs. At the moment I have about 300 eggs going so I'm going to have to wait on them. The breeder of the Wellies said depending on which lines, she sometimes gets early or right on time hatches, but then a day or two later the other lines hatch out, so I'm leaving those in there for now. Still nothing on my pheasants. I think they're just done.

My next hatch is due the 13th. I don't even remember what I'm hatching out, but I think they're BCMs. Just set more of those and lots of Silkies. I even have splash in there, but unless they're from my own birds I don't do well with Silkie eggs. Hopefully that won't be the case. I've been trying to hatch out SPPRs and so far nothing. Getting disappointing, so I had to have a talk with Ziggy. He keeps Fannies back bare, so he needs to put some umph into it and fertilize something.

I need to get rabbit pens together in the next few days. My boys are going to be maturing pretty soon and that can get ugly. I think it will be too hot for babies by the time the little men are old enough, so I may have to get another dwarf breed to use for my girls, so they could decide not to ever breed later. Also need to fix the pens I got for my quail so I can get my adults out of my garage and I have over 100 eggs in the bator. Oh I feel so old. I hurt thinking about all of this stuff. LOL
