Bay Area BYCers!

I saw Bridgets White Faced Black Spanish when I was down there a few weeks ago. Stunning birds. I tried to get eggs, but none were available. I reckon she is incubating everything that comes out of them. If anyone who knows Bridget has not gone out to her place, DO IT. It is chicken utopia. She was not there the last time I went down, so I got to walk around and spend time. All SQ birds, several dozen breeds, and an unreal number of youngsters. (600+ under 2 months is a conservative estimate). Complete sensory overload. One of the interesting things I noticed is that she keeps a large rooster in the grow out pens. She uses Shamo and Brazilians for her baby sitters. When I was there a large snake kept trying to sneak into one of the grow out pens. You think Broodies give stink eye? Try a fully grown Shamo protecting juveniles. Every time the snake poked its head in to the pen, The Shamo was right there waiting. Awesome.

I totally agree about Bridgette's place. She is a short drive for me so I hope to visit more. Her place is my dream come true. I came home all hyped up about revamping my own place. When I started, I thought, I was just going to have a pen of layers......Ha!!!!!! Now I have 13 pens & still need more to keep all my breeds separate, which I do, no hanky panky allowed around here.....LOL. Her place is well built & nice with lotsa room. Her whole ranch is beautiful too.
We will soon be redoing my whole chicken area. It won't be all that she has but much nicer than what I have now. I can't wait!!!!!

Bridgette is in Newman California. You can call when she gets back home & make arrangements I am sure. I asked if it is okay to be giving out her name. She was fine with it. She is very nice & easy going. Wish I could say the same for all the breeders I have encountered....LOL

I looked around a bit & didn't see much & recently bought some hatching eggs on a BYC auction (I think that's where I got them. I will have to check my records). They were only selling 6 eggs at a time & they are White Crested Black Polish but I put them in yesterday.

This is what I'm looking for!

But I'd rather buy chicks or older.....I sold my bator! Too much stress unless you have a good one! I'll wait for a broody and then get eggs.

I'm so sorry Mrsfoote. We went through this last year with my FIL and 3 years ago with my brother who was only 40 (cancer). It's the hardest part of life....blessings to you and your family.
