I'll let Tim know.

My friend Mary and I help each other vaccinate. She holds. I inject. So far, I haven't vaccinated her. However, I did inject the needle a little too far once, and went right through the skin and out again.

Well, my 2 Silver Ameraucana pullets from Blehm went to a new home today. They were so, so flighty and as they've really matured over these past few months I've found them to be more and more unattractive.

I'm kicking myself now wishing I would have gotten a few Blacks from John instead.

Oh well.

They were cute as babies, it'll be hard to forget little Sleepykinns.

Does anyone know what this bush is?

I'd ask over on the Easy Garden forum but I don't have an account.

Hi, I'm new here and don't know much about chickens (tho I'm learning), but I know my plants! That is Dietes iridioides, commonly known as fortnight lily. A very hardy drought-tolerant plant. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks champer! I see it all the time on roadsides and in parking lots around the Bay Area, I was kind of hoping it wasn't a Lily though... every part of a Lily plant is toxic to chickens. So much for my idea of putting a few bushes along the fence of the bird's run.

BTW,

Where are you in the Bay Area?

Actually, it isn't related to the lily family, but belongs to the family of irises. It should be quite safe to grow near your chickens. HTH

I'm near Morgan Hill, south of San Jose.

BTW, your chickies are adorable!

I'll have to read more about it and other Iris varieties.

Thanks for the compliment about my chooks, I sure do love them.
