Bay Area BYCers!

We just need to make sure that we ask for camp sites as far away from the field with donkeys & horses as we can get! The smell was very rural and we also had one of the closest sites to the freeway. I learned that I'm not too fond of freeway white noise at night!

I also found out when we checked out that they had just sprayed the field with manure fertilizer this week. That added to the rural smell! There were lots of tent sites available and you would think that they wouldn't put people next to that field the week that they spread the liquid gold! The campground is really nice and I won't hesitate to go back but next time I am going to make sure that we are on the other side of the grounds! We just didn't have time to take down our tent and move to a different site. It wasn't a bad site. It just could have been better.

Definitely good things to consider next time..... It is pretty perplexing that they didn't think of filling the sites farthest from the fertilized field first. Maybe they are so used to it, they don't really smell it anymore!!

Maybe that's why! My daughter had fun slipping apples to the donkeys and horses, though! The swimming pool is heated and really nice! They also have a covered group "kitchen" area where you can cook and eat at tables. It is the perfect place for group camping! And if you don't like tent or camper camping, they have different sizes of cabins that you can rent. I'll volunteer to help organize a group camping trip next year!

My grown son who is my chicken helper wants Malays because he thought they were bigger than Shamos? Is that true.?? To my untrained eye they look alot alike. I try to help find the breeds he wants because he is such a help to me. I wouldn't be able to have all I do have without all his help.

A Malay is: C-9lbs H-7lbs..... Shamo is: C 11 lbs H 7 lbs. Both breeds can have giants, so it depends on the strains. You don't often see real Malays or Shamo's.

Walt

It's the Shamos that Aaron would want then. The size & "wierd looks" that attracted him. He likes "off beat" & unusual birds.

I haven't camped in more years than I care to think of, but enjoyed it when I did. My son in law has all the gear. It is a thought.....LOL

Karen, The cabins are REALLY nice and have real beds with mattresses! They have 2 or 3 different sizes of cabins but all are nice. All you would need to bring is bedding and food.

Sounds very do able for me. I will be smart from now on & travel with my walker with it's seat wherever I go. I would have enjoyed Tues Expo so much more being able to sit between each row in the first big building. I couldn't handle all the walkng on cement withoiut aplace to sit to rest. It was well worth going & I hope to go to the Paso Robles show coming up. Walt says it should be good it's a double show with lots of entries.
