I have been waiting for her to get back from Colorado to pick up a couple of Black Minorca pullets. I bought a young pair from her out at her place some months back & she said she would get me a couple more pullets. The one pullet of the pair I bought from her has just started to lay. HerMinorcas will be one of the 3 white egg layers I keep. My Exchequer Leghorns will be another.
I did make arrangements from a recommendation from her for a trio of English Orps from the show judge in Pine Grove. Buffs are not my choice so keep working on my B/B/S from you but I will pick up my trio from him at the J.S. West sale.My friend Kate that I took with me to Santa Rosa wants the Buffs for a breeding program she has in mind. She is reading this chicken genetics book & gets totally excited about projects.....LOL

Having driven to Cheryl's and back a couple times - I know it's drivable from Sunnyvale. About as drivable, imho, as Oakland, really.
I'm fine with the zoo or the ranch.

From San Jose it's an extra 30 minutes according to google maps, (42 mins to zoo, 55 to ranch) straight shot up 680 and it's right off the freeway, so no surface streets. The picnic area is covered with grape vines so pretty dry. I only mention it because there are so many animals, goats, sheep, alpaca, horses, peacock named kevin, bunnies etc that there are nice distractions for the kids

2 of my silver penciled roos went to another sppr breeder yesterday and I'll be getting some eggs from her flock. She's outcrossed to barred rocks so I'm hoping her size is better. I moved my 3 penciled hens to the ranch to meet their MAN! I was sure the girls would boss him around, but I guess since it was his pen, he wanted to show them who's in charge. Not a very nice welcoming. Hope to start seeing some eggs from this group, still a bit young at 5 1/2 months.
