Hi all! I actually spent the weekend away from the computer so I have been catching up this morning! Glad to see we are planning the next event. I'm looking forward to it as I couldn't stay but for a split second at Cheryl's last year. Right now either weekend works for me and I have a portable canopy too in case we need it for a location.

Jeremy - Congratulations on the egg from your Blehm Wheaten Ameraucana - it's pretty! I'm still waiting patiently for my first egg from any of my girls. They will be 5 months next week so I have to be paitent!!

I have never been myself, but Bridgette Little, Bruce Sherman & Jim Salle will all be there & I hear it is a big deal. You can call the number I gave you & ask the for the feed store & get more infomation if you want. A "chicken lovin" friend of mine from Oakdale sent me notification of it & I have just gone from there. They must do it twice a year I think.

Hi to All,

UCD sent me the preliminary report on my Pullet Nella today. She died of liver rupture. The other tests were negative and she was a healthy chicken. The report said this was a condition of unknown origin but effected some breeds more than others and was associated with over weight birds and the rupture was more likely to happen during hot weather with hens of egg producing age.

I am so relieved! I don't have worry about the rest of my flock

Holy moly Jeremy! Beautiful egg!! Congrats!

Thanks! I'm hoping to see big strides in egg color improvement with this year's pullets.

Looks like we're headed in the right direction so far.

The first few eggs are always the bluest though, as they increase in size and period of lay they tend to lighten.

More egg photos.

These are the eggs that my Blue Copper girl Ponyo has given me consistently for the last 6 days. I caught her on the nest today so I'm positive it's her. They're very glossy.

Direct sunlight.

Not so direct sunlight, sorta half shade half sunlight.

With an olive egg for some comparison, again not so direct sunlight.

They aren't quite as dark as the eggs she hatched from but I'm happy with them. She is from Monique's (ruth) stock, I believe the Blue Copper roo that sired her is from Will Morrow's line.

Ron

I agree on the relief. And I'm really impressed with the speed of service from UCD!
