Bay Area BYCers!

I use a small dog-size/LG cat carrier--put some shavings or hay in the bottom for less clean-up mess.

You can each give them a chance to make their best chicken call. They will think it is hysterical to see each other doing this! Have a blast!

I'm planning to take one of our chickens in for a visit to our pre-school to show her off to the kids. I have a couple of questions: what's the best way to transport a chicken? I was thinking a cat traveler or similar. Also, I was planning a game or 2 with the kids, one I was thinking of is Poop Bingo (chalk out numbers on the ground and whichever number the chicken poops on wins a prize for the holder of that number). Does anybody know any other chicken games that 4 and 5 year olds would enjoy?

Hi All!

Some good friends snuck in my coop while I was on vacation and finished up my new nest boxes! My hens are loving it. Check this out...

Sooo cute! One more...see if you can read the sign...

The nest boxes look great Dawn!

Maybe this will help encourage some of your ladies to go broody for you.

Those nest boxes look great, and there are little awnings also!

King Feed is IN at Western Farm Center, Santa Rosa. However, they did NOT get any ORGANIC feed in any form. I got some Natural Lay Pellets yesterday. They will ask why there wasn't any organic feed included in their shipment. My hens love their stuff; they also get the H & B Cage Mix, but I'm not quite sure where H & B's feed source is from (from another group list, their feed may imported.)

I KNOW! So stinkin' cute!!! thanks, I am loving it, and the hens are all a-twitter about their new designer boxes! Laying well!

I give up on the broody for now. Am ordering eggs and have someone incubating. Dufuss birds.

I got feed at WF while they were still unloading it! (Talk about being pushy, I know!!!)

Lemon Cuckoo Orps, plus a surprise pack of Lavender, Porcelain, Gold-Laced, or Isabel Orpingtons. Also: Golden Cuckoo Marans & Patridge Chantecler. If anyone wants Splash Marans chicks from my birds, I could set some of those as well. Too bad you are roo-less, Jeremy!

Awesome! It sounds like you're hatching from Chookschick's project eggs, right? Are the GC Marans and Chantecler from her too?

I like the Lemon Cuckoos, the Barred Buff color is lovely.

Speaking of roos, I will probably be rehoming my Platinum Sumatra cockerel soon, I've started hatching chicks from my trio and I have a few Dun and Platinum chicks now in the brooder, enough now to continue with the project. My plan is to rehome Poe and then bring Neville home, he's still down in Santa Cruz but I hope to bring him home by mid March.

ETA: I'll need Neville home to continue working on my other project...

The version we use here where I live for the local elementary school Halloween carnival is done with a cow in a pen with the squares marked out & a nice prize for the winner...............LOL. It's called Cow Plop!!!.

I'm actually a Claire! First saw that game at an Elementary school fund raiser and thankfully none of them were inebriated! I like the sound of that bar though.....
