New guy here,

just called (925) 335-1381 which said the new number is 674-7200 which is the coco county number, she told me were with in the city limits of pittsburg. I am wondering if this is old information as wikipedia says

Bay Point was previously known by several names, including Bella Vista and, until 1993, West Pittsburg. An election was held in 1993 to vote on renaming the community Bay Point, reviving a historical name used in this area. "West Pittsburg," the former name, was sometimes confused with the western section of Pittsburg, an incorporated city. Bay Point is unincorporated.

The city of Pittsburg recently made overtures in attempting to annex Bay Point. After series of a community meetings were held during which residents voiced their opposition, Pittsburg has since dropped the issue.[citation needed]
Ambrose Park, given to the residents of West Pittsburg by the Enes family, was annexed by Pittsburg in August 2010.


Ive lived in Concord almost all my life and know Chickens are allowed there. Uncle has a few and another uncle who lives in Oroville has 500 who sells eggs.

Id like to get 2 or 3 for eggs.

But if anyone is from the bay area long enough, "west pittsburg" had a fight that they were originally bay point back in the early 1900s, so the last i heard they changed the name back to bay point.

So according to some records we should not be under pittsburgs rules?

According to Pittsburg Municipal Code section 7.08.030, no person may keep chickens for personal use within City limits. I understand that the City has been looking into modifying this section of the code to allow for the keeping of a limited number of fowl on residential properties, however, it has not moved forward at this time. Please feel free to contact us in the future to see the status of this code change.

Did you contact her to see if anything has changed in the last two years? Are you subject to Pittsburg's codes, or only the county-wide codes.

Hi All! I've been away for a few days and I'm just catching up.

Boogie Dog - if you end up with a homeless Marans pullet - I'd really like one.
YRofRooster - Bay Point and Pittburg are two different places, I know people in Bay Point who have chickens. As long as you don't have roosters [I think] you'll be ok.
Jeremy - I'm not sure if you meant to sound sarcastic - but it came across that way. A meet-up somewhere would be fun - come east so it's closer to me....

Tressa, I did not mean to come off sarcastic, I guess I should have proof read my post.

Anyways, my concern is planning a get together for everyone, where everyone will be welcome and to avoid any sort of "clique" type attitudes. I have a tendency to be very short with people of that nature and maybe that's why my post came across the way it did.

We've had large events in the past where folks from all over the Bay Area are invited, I don't see why that suddenly has to change now.

That said, it's no big deal. We'll plan a Regional Chickenstock like we have every year and it will be great!

Bummer, I had a raccoon attack tonight. Initially, I thought Violetta only had a wound to her ear, because that's where the blood was. But, now I can see that she had her whole side torn open under her wing. I can see her muscles and even a hole in the connective tissue. I sprayed her with saline wound cleaner, but I doubt that is enough. She's isolated in a cage in the basement.

Does anyone have personal experience with a chicken injured this badly who survived? If so, what did you do? I'm crushed. She was (of course) my favorite new Barnie girl. I've never put down a bird before. I'd rather not do it now, if there's any chance she could survive.

It goes without saying, time to do some serious improvement on my pop door and all other coop security.
