Bay Area BYCers!

Yikers! Too much work puts me WAY behind on my chicken chatting! Uhmmm... Jeremy, why do you ask HOW MANY? When my husband asks, I always reply, "Why do you want to know?" (Better yet, "Do you really want to know?")

I have 26 that I kept....Guess how many are FEMALE, based on auto-sexing and feather& tail feather sexing (not that I'm great at it, but still...) Not to mention that at 10 days some have COMBS. SEVEN. GIRLS. How does this happen??? My odds suck!

Your gal below is very pretty!

Dawn

Dawn, I bet you have more girls than that! Do you plan on letting them grow out for awhile to be sure?

Steph,

Happy Easter, Everyone !
Hey Daphne, my wheaton marans and olive eggers hatched today; next week I hope for a good hatch of blue marans, brabanters and silver penciled rocks - two weeks out is the hatch date for my Hinks lav Aracuanas and that will end my spring hatch. Woohoo!

Sounds like you'll be very busy with babies all summer long Allison!!!

I will probably be putting around 30 Orpington eggs into the incubator tomorrow...

combs out already? no tail feathers? wattles? BOYS boys BOYS!

ARgh!! The golden cuckoo marans are auto-sexing...boys! The Cream legbars are a pair--also auto-sexing. ORPS...3/5 boys, I'm betting, as four are Lemon cuckoo and harder to sex as the cuckoo barring is much lighter, but the one I think is a girl has a clear, small headspot. The Isabel is the only other hope... Get it? Trouble with Hooligans soon, for sure, here at The Finca!

Yes, I will keep them for a few more weeks. To be sure. And silkies for WAY longer, of course.

Straight run Araucana chicks of various colors. Clean faced and tufted for 2 weeks and under. Already vaccinated for mareks. If you are interested please PM me.

I don't think we're supposed to post pricing here. Maybe remove the price and ask people to PM you so the other info can stay here. Otherwise, the mods will move it to the auction area. OH, and do you have pictures?

Jeremy, nice .........good luck with your projected projects. How exciting for you.
The breeder that sent me the cross bred eggs my mistake last season has sent me 22 B/B/S English UK Orp eggs as replacements & apologies. I have them set now. They came from Julie & Joy's stock also. I hope for a good hatch. I am not ordering any shipped eggs this year. SO tired of disappointments. I am getting some chicks shipped soon but mostly hatching my own eggs this year or hand delivered bought or traded eggs. I had a 100% hatch on the SQ Dominique eggs Pet Rock hand delivered to me from Aptos. There were 15 eggs, 3 were clear & all the other 12 hatched. I have now sold my pet quality Dominique pair from last year's hatch. I continue to try to cut back all the while trying to improve my stock. The white Rocks are sold & are going to Redding on Tuesday. I have sold all my Lavender AM pairs. Claude, Sophie & Rose continue to produce babies for myself & others to enjoy. I have 6 of Bridget's White AMs in the incubator along with 6 of her Salmon Favs
As to avacado trees I tried in the past & failed but will try again. I know of a huge one in Denair (near Turlock) & another huge one in Ceres (near Turlock) so I know they can be grown here. I too love them & buy them regularly.
I am going to try to post a picture of Splish & SPlas the English Orp pair I bought from Jeremy in November after the Chickenstock in Oakland. Splash turned out to be Blue but I had already named them so it is what it is.....LOL
