Bay Area BYCers!

I think any breed that is being newly worked with at a high cost to bring over or find & ship will be alot more expensive until they are here for quite awhile. I like having "different" nice stock but am only willing to go so far as to cost. As I said I already spen waaaaaaaaaaay too much money on chickens......LOL I have a "chicken lovin" friend that is vigilant at finding and raising newly acquired breeds that has been more than generous with me & I truly appreciate it.
Sarah, your Birchen eggs are "Oh so much darker & bigger" than the ones I ordered for Birchen Marans last season. I was so drawn to the beautiful birds until I found that they are quite a big smaller than my BCMs & then when I rec'd the hatching eggs & they were maybe a #2 on the Marans egg chart & the size of my SIlky eggs I was disillusioned to put it mildly. I literally flushed them down the toilet & vowed never to deal with that party again. So glad to see you are having better luck. Good for you. I am also happy to see that some of the eggs I gave you hatched. I have been hatching eggs for myself from that same mating. I can't wait to see what eggs show up next season. I just loved the color of the f1 OE eggs on the chart shown on Olive Egger thread.
As to getting a cockerel for my daughter's 2 pullets I would want you to see the girls first & give me an honest opinion on what you think. I was so disappointed that they were not frizzled like I thought I was buying.
Cheryl good for you...........I so admire your dedication & hard work.I barely keep up around here on day to day maintenance without taking on any long term projects. Good Luck with your hunt. I hope you find exactly what you need.

Thanks Karen, I was getting really discouraged on this breed and now it seems I'm having some good fortune. Walt has been wonderful in helping me critique many birds and I think now I have a nice bunch to work with. I'm probably now going to be keeping 2 pens of these.

Now what to do with the Tolbunt polish and the upcoming Rhodebars!!

So strange she sent you what she did. It sucks to pay a lot of money for something and be disappointed. :(

My goodness Cheryl....what a dilemma you have ........LOL

Sarah,
Yes the whole experience was very disillusioning but my total experiences have been positive & exhilerating so I just moved on from there. I think Lotsapaints was here with me when that happened & we were both floored......LOL

Many of you know that I've been looking for a better roo for my silver pencil rock pen. I received one last week, but I'm not happy with his look.

However I found a great flock from another BYC member. They are being shipped to me at the beginning of May. I'm so excited. They are young at only 7 1/2 months but Walt thought they have great potential!! I'm getting these 2 roos and 2 nice big girls...

Cheryl, they're beautiful! Just what I need, another breed to add to my want list!

Wynette, They are yours I forgot to credit you so sorry. I'm getting them from hennypen along with a couple more of your girls!!!

Cheryl,

Re: feather quality of Rocks. Read pg 41 APA SOP second paragraph under economic qualities. Note width of feather in the male SPR's you are getting.....great width of feather.....you can see it in the tail feathers.

Walt
