BB turkey with bare tummy.

Well,,,,,,he was to be a pet until I found out he was bred for eating.

So this wasn't a plan at all. Now that it has to be done soon I'm just educating myself on the processing and storing of the turkey. So, baking should take care of any bacteria that may be left on the skin after washing in water?

) being a newbie, how long do you think it would take me to pluck a turkey?
 
Yes, cooking will definitely kill anything on the skin, and as long as you cook to 160 degrees, anything inside as well. The bad news is that if you're anything like me, it will take you awhile to pluck your first bird. I think I spent about an hour doing my first chicken. However, the key is getting a good scald. Keep it in the water until the feathers on the wings and tail come out effortlessly.
