Thank you! And welcome! It's gonna be a long journey, but I really wanted to contribute weekly growth pics of all my varieties since it's so hard to find pics of them at all ages to help with sexing and such. You can check out my threads for my BBS Wheatens and Silvers too
ETA: Just to let everyone know, I'll be adding a thread for my Self Blue Ameraucanas on Wednesday when they're a week old! Gonna try and have a catalog of all my varieties at every age so anyone can find them and hopefully use them as a resource to sex their own birds! I'll also be getting Brown Reds hopefully next spring and I'll do the same with them.

Here they are! Week 2 for the BBS babies!

#1- Red Band. This is my favorite splash. Kinda hope it's a boy. Never had a splash boy before....

#2- Yellow Band. Beautiful dark blue baby! Can't wait to see "Shelly" all grown up! I hope she gets the beautiful edging on her feathers!

#3- Green Band. Another pretty blue, lighter than Shelly...this baby was a perfect angel for taking pics. Stood so still and looked all sweetly at me❤

#4- Blue Band. This splash is a total spaz! Would NOT hold still for pics. Took forever to get decent shots. The only one that really has any "splashes" on it so far though.

#5- Purple Band. Another splash. This is "Irene" who has a swollen/deformed eye. She is sweet as can be, and actually fell asleep while I took her picture. I love her and will keep this one forever, boy or girl....

#6- Pink Band. My only black. Beautiful baby I can't wait to find out the gender of! Sweet, too!

There you have it! That's everyone. I know it's still way too early to know gender, I'm just hoping that once we know what they are, we may be able to see some early indicators like how quickly they feathered in, etc. I'm having fun keeping track of them anyway, and this thread may end up helping someone else identify their babies someday. Plus, who doesn't love baby pics?!

I only got 2 Silvers out of 15 eggs, but I'm still keeping track of them since they were so different as day old chicks.

Red band - guessing girl, but this is only one I find questionable and could also be a boy!
Yellow band - boy
Green band - boy
Blue band - girl
Purple band - girl
Pink band - girl

I was 7/7 on my Ameraucana/Orpington mixed chicks that all have pea combs by week 1 and 5/6 on my Polish guesses, so I need a bigger sample size to figure out how good I am getting

I know, me either! I love trying to guess genders when they're super young! I do agree red band has a very boy like stance!

Well, here's the Week 3 pics finally...I was out of town unexpectedly for a few days, so about 4 days late with these pics. They're coming along though! Definitely have a few spunky personalities starting to shine thru! Here they are! 3 weeks, 4 days:

#1- Red Band (Splash)


#2- Yellow Band (Black) Thought this baby was dark blue for the longest time, but it turns out he/she is actually black!


#3- Green Band (Dark Blue) Love the attitude shot I first got. Comb looks a little boyish already...


#4- Blue Band (Splash) This is quite possibly my new favorite, aside from my blue wheaten boy. Almost definitely a boy, and so dang sweet! He was a perfect angel for his pics!


#5- Purple Band (Splash) This is the one I called "Irene", but I'm pretty sure "she's" a boy...very large comb. Still a sweetie, and very calm. Gonna have to change his name to "Ivan" lol


#6- Pink Band (Black) Still a very sweet baby, likes to jump up on my shoulder while I'm taking everyone else's pics. I'm getting a little concerned that I didn't get any girls of the BBS...although this one could just be a really friendly pullet.


So there they are! Getting big, and I can't wait to find out whether I actually got any pullets out of this bunch. It's looking like I may have one or two so far, but it'll be a while before I know for sure. They're all good babies though. Until next week!
