BC Marans

[Canidae]

This is my first time keeping a BC marans, I've heard they comb up early but this is looking like a cockerel to me. Thoughts? 4 weeks on 4/26

I've had two batches of BCMs, and at just under four weeks that's REALLY early for early comb/pink up. Add the wattles, and all things are pointing to cockerel. Hopefully you wanted one!

I'm actually fine with this one being a cockerel! I just hope it's the only one of the group lol. Though my black jersey giant chick also looks a bit masculine to me

Yeah, I agree. It's true that BCM pullets can comb up early, but not that much at that age. Looks like a cockerel to me too.
