I promised myself this time I would not candle until day 14. It was too stressful the last time round, checking every few days. I made my husband take the candler to his school. We had 2 Marans eggs last time and the Brinsea OvaScope could "show" us that the eggs did not develop because they were "sloshy"

My 7 BCM eggs are on day 12. I tried candling them again, and all I can see are dark blobs. I was trying to see if they were moving, but I think my eyes were playing tricks on me. There's one egg that may be a quitter -- it was pretty bright and there was a small dark blob in the middle, but not as big as in the others. I'm stressing out! These are my first home-grown eggs!

Interesting that the OvaScope can see inside a marans egg though. I'm totally blind til day 21 with them.
I do have 2 barnie eggs in that I'm hoping to see some development in though

I will. I hope the Java hatches. I've never had one. Really want these others though.

I must be imagining things. I sat and watched the eggs for about 10 minutes, OK, maybe 15, but I could have sworn I saw one moving!

Am I going crazy or is it possible?

I candled the 2 barnie eggs this morning. Flashlight needs new batteries so I could not see anything yet. Marans are just beyond me, no candling. It is a surprise on day 21.

Day 14. I candled my 7 BCM eggs. 6 have appropriate sized air cells and are probably 2/3 dark masses. Except one. It just has a little dark area in the middle and the rest of the egg is very bright compared to the others. I'm betting that's my quitter. Hope it's the only one with problems. I'll settle for 6 healthy chicks, please!
