I can't candle the Marans eggs yet (eventually I will be able to tell clears from not clears) but I was able to candle the 2 barnevelder eggs and I see two babies in there.

for you !

I have no choice but to wait till Feb 25. My husband has the candler hostage at his school, per my instructions.

Oh, that's nice of him to help you with the candling addiction.
Good luck on your hatch!

How are yours doing?

I kinda cheated last night. It was midnight and I don't know what got into me. I candled 3 eggs with my son's LED flashlight. I couldn't see through the Marans at all. One of the BLRW looks to be infertile, and I'm hopeful for the third I candled. I asked my husband to bring home the Ovascope this afternoon, so I will be candling later. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Used the Ovascope on them..... 2 BLRW and 1 cochin are alive and well, just squirming around.

1 BLRW was infertile, another was a quitter.

With the Marans, I just can't tell for sure. They look dark except for the air sac. Is this a good sign? At least they aren't sloshy like the last ones. I guess I'll check them again right before lockdown. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for.

When is lockdown? Tuesday or Wednesday?

With Marans, I think the dark with an airsack is a good egg unless it's weeping
so sounds like they might be chicks
good luck!
