Hi everyone! It is my first ever hatch, it's day 17 today, and I'm really excited, also pretty nervous. 25 Australorps and 16 BCM eggs inside a cheap plastic incubator (after pulling out 4-4 at day 8 candling).
At day 15 all seemed good, all the eggs I could successfully candle were alive and moving (the darkest 3 I have no clue though). But I read a lot about BCM eggs hard to hatch and that they usually die inside because they can't get out in time caused of the hard eggshell.
I know there's a serious debate on wether or not help these chicks, but my plan is, that I wait until the end of day 22, and then with whats left, if I hear chirping from inside I'll try to help them, slowly and as patiently as possible.
Could you recommend the softest way to open a peep hole for them? Obviously where the air cell is - I already marked them at day 15 and plan to check them at day 18.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
