I sent my husband to the farm store to pick up a couple of friends for my lone baby. One of the babies he brought back looks just like the one I have - a black copper Maren pullet. The other one was in the same container but has a white splotched face. Any ideas what it is? And do you think it’s a he? With the comb it has, that’s the way I’m leaning.

Could be a BCM cross. I have two that are Black Copper Maran crossed with Barred Rock. They look just like that, including one has a splotched face. One of mine has leg feathers, the other does not. They were sold as Dominant Coppers and are supposed to lay dark brown eggs.

I would be ok with that. I love my barred rocks.

I’ve been looking for pictures that compare cockerels and pullets. Are the white markings more common in cockerels?

If it IS a Dominant Copper, I believe they are sex links and the male chicks have a white spot on their heads, but I am very new to this whole chicken thing.
