This is the first time hatching BCMs. One is pipping on Day 20. Nothing was going on before I left to go out. When I returned a couple hours later, it pipped about 2/3 of the top of the egg and stopped. There are white foamy bubbles where the shell is cracked. Is this normal? I've hatched other eggs out and didn't have this happen. What is it?

Any sounds coming from the egg? Any movement? It could be taking a nap.

Not sure about the "white" foamy bubbles or what they might indicate. I've heard of yellowish to brownish...but not white. Hope that's not a bad sign!

Good luck. How many other eggs are in the bator?

I have 6 BCM & 2 mystery eggs. The BCM's were very difficult to candle, even though they weren't very dark chocolate colored. There was definitely movement in 3 of them. It was tricky to tell the other 3, definitely full, just the movement was questionable. The one pipping was one with good movement.

I don't hear anything. Hoping chick is taking a little break.

I am hoping the creamy stuff isn't a bad sign

Is this foamy stuff normal when pipping? I got up in the middle of the night and saw no movement, nothing. I went back to bed thinking the worst that the poor chickie drown.

When I got up this morning, it seems like a little more progress is going on. My husband still isn't convinced and thinks maybe it's a bad egg. (It does smell horrendous in the bator.) Any thoughts? With my other hatch I never saw any foamy stuff. Is this typical with BCMs?

Would love your feedback

We got kinda snowed in today, called off work and now I'm hovering over my hova-bator.

And now you know why they're called "Hova-bator" !!!

Cuz you spend all of your time from lock down to hatch just hovering around the bator!!!

This seems to be my hatch rate 1. But one is better then none. Hoping for two. I hate having lonely chicks
