BCM Question

As she gets closer to point of lay, it should redden up. She should start to lay around 20-30 weeks old. Most of mine on average start to lay around 23 weeks.

i would be concerned that she doesn't have any copper on her hackles right now. comb and wattles on pullets start to turn red when they are close to laying

I may be wrong, but don't BCM's come in both total black and also with the copper collar? I'm confused now.

Yes, they do, but if she is a product of a Black Copper parent(s), she carries the copper gene whether she expresses it or not. I have had a few hens here that did not show any copper at all until after their adult molt at about a year of age. A pure Black is very hard to come by, just because she may show pure black, doesn't mean she is one. I think your gal is fine, and right on target for her age.
