We recently seperated all our birds in to their own breed specific pens but originally our Black Copper Maran Roo was housed up with our Lavender Ameraucana roo and hens along with the BCM hens and Lavender Ameraucana hens. We recently hatched some of the Lavender hens eggs and they hatched out lavender in color. So my question is this if they hatch out lavender are they going to be full blooded Ameraucana or could there still be a possibility that they are from the Maran Roo? I have read that the black is a dominant characteristic to the lavender coloring and that if you cross bred these two birds the chicks would be black. Always good to double check internet facts though.

All the cross chicks would be black.

Other things to watch out for are pea combs(dominant but can look funny in crosses), beards. Leg feathering is also dominant but is rather variable.

All the lavender birds have clean legs which I figured was another indication that they came from the lavender roo. This is pretty good news considering we lost 2 of our birds to an unfortunate dog incident a few days after they hatched and was left with only one hen.

I have recently hatched eggs from my lavender colored Easter egger and my BMC roo and had four chicks hatch out and all were lavender with copper. One of the pullets has heavily feathered feet and 3 of the 4 have feathered feet
