At what age do they usually start laying? Mine are 20 weeks now, but don't seem to be showing any signs. Their waddles and combs are getting red, but they show no interest in the nesting boxes, and trying to get them to squat when petting them is difficult, so I am guessing they are being slow and not ready.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
I figured they were more like a "designer hen" so I don't expect a lot from them. They did not come from a hatchery though, but a local breeder. I am in no hurry. They will lay when they are ready. I just had no idea when they would be ready. I was just wondering when to start checking the egg boxes.
