Be aware, mice can eat a chicken to death!

Hello, I thought my chicken friend was crazy when she told me that a mouse or rat could eat a chicken to death while they are sleeping. Well, my other chicken friend just had it happen to her 5 week old chicken. Luckily, we think she is going to be okay. The first picture is right when it happened and the second picture is today. I guess she is eating, drinking and acting normal today, but yesterday she was super weak. The mouse literally ate into her head while she was sleeping. They have now adjusted their sleeping situation and are on a mouse killing spree. I just wanted to let everyone know that this is a possibility in all coops. Their coop is one of the cleanest I have ever seen and mice are still around!

how sad. I always worry about mice and rats.my Dh has told me over and over. When you have livestock or poultry.

You are going to have mice..

You will only have a mouse or rat problem if you don't keep your place clean. No spilled/wasted feed, all feed kept in rodent proof storage containers and no place for them to nest and raise their young ones.
