Be home by the whistle?

We still have a fire whistle in our town also. It dosent blow at night, but it blows in the morning to let us know that school has been cancelled becasue of bad weather in the winter time..6 long blows~6 short blows. It also gives the address of the fire..i cant figure out that code though..

I don't live in town, but the small town that my kids went to school in the whistle still goes off every day at 7 am and 6 pm.

Yep, small town I live south of has a noon whistle and a 5:00. This is a funny post, because I just sold a house to a couple with 5 kids and there is a Prison across the highway. . .(very secure), and at 6 every night the whistle blows, for what I don't know. But, I told the mom that when that whistle blows every night, the kids knew it was supper time!! We had a big laugh over it!!!

This is kinda Vonn Trapp but...

I've a small voice and it doesn't carry far, so I have a gym whistle. I blow the command for mark time, and the kids know it's time to come home. If there's no whistle, they come in at streetlights.

Maybe it's just a Minnesota small town thing? Most of the small towns around where I grew up had this same thing. It was very easy for parents. Like I said, there was no curfew law, just what the parents told the kids. Huh. I thought maybe it would be more prevalent.

The little town where I live still blows it's whistle three times a day. 7 a.m., noon, and 9 p.m I kinda like it!
