beagle eating rose bushes

What can I do? My beagle seems to think rose bushes are delicious, thorns and all. He'll dig up and chew anything that's as big as him or smaller.

I know for digging you can throw down his own poo in that area, not a great smell but........it works. As far as eating them...hummmm.... perhaps spray them with a bitter spray or soapy wash?

my amstaff beagle does the same thing!!! i have a very old rose bush i would like to keep nice and the bugger keeps chewing on it thorns and all!!! hes attacked my rose of sharon trees you name it its been munched. i just sigh swat hime and hope its a puppy thing
