I don't know why you vet said you would have to wail to spay her. My cat was spayed as soon as her last kitten was weaned. The only reason to wait is so the nursing relationship is not disturbed.
(BTW, I was adopting the mom cat and her last kitten; she was turned in as a pregnant 'teen-aged' cat)

And I adore beagles. Unfortunately my MIL just gave us her supposedly-neutered male birddog, who promptly ravished my coonhound/beagle. I'm still waiting to see if any harm was done, since MIL is still insisting the male was neutered.

FYI, spaying a nursing dog is never a good idea. Yes, it CAN be done, but an ethical vet would wait. The wound area would be hard to keep clean with pooping puppies crawling around it. Not to mention the overnight stay at the vet affecting milk production, the cost of milk replacer while she's gone, and drugs in her milk afterwards. I guess some vets are just in it for the money.

Would you consiter shipping ? And if so what would it cost ? I have a beagle and my in- laws are in love with him. They lost their family pet a few years ago and it hit them so hard. If shipping was reasonable I would take two.

I can give referances how well my animals are cared for.

Yes, I agree that spaying a nursing doggie-mama is not a good idea. In my post I stated that my cat was spayed AFTER her last kitten was weaned. I believe puppies are weaned at 6 to 8 weeks, not 3 months, as the OP's vet suggested.

FWIW, I am aware of the effects of surgery on nursing mammals, as I am a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (practice limited to humans).
