Beak damage

It doesn't actually seem to bother her. She's eating her crumble out of a small deep dish.

Do you think her break will grow back? I have a wyandotte with the same injury. How's Maybelle doing now?

I think they regenerate that top layer. If the entire beak is missing, then it doesn't regrow, but the layers do, from my recollection.

The bottom portion is VERY THIN. I'm concerned that part may fall off still, even with a minor injury or bump. But like Aunt Angus said, my understanding is it should grow back if it's just that part.

She seems totally unbothered by it though. It hurt for a few days but not anymore. Im not giving her anything to peck at, like cucumbers or squash, so it doesn't do any damage. I've also been putting Vaseline or a coconut oil on it each evening because it looks quite dry.
