Beak fungus?

I have a chicken that has a small sore or growth on one side of its beak. I can see it best when I open it's beak. I checked the others and there was another one that had an even smaller place...it looks like a thicker darker place on the beak when I open the bird's mouth. Sorry, no pics. Is there such a thing as a beak fungus? What do you do for it? I read somewhere on here of someone who found that their chicken's beak was roting away and I really don't want this to happen to my chicken.

Hello chickengal. I'm new to raising chickens but I'll see if I can be of some help to you. I searched on this site and came up with a thread that deals with canker and coryza. There are pictures in this thread, you may want to see if this looks anything like what your chicken has. I hope this helps and that someone with more chicken knowledge comes along soon.
