Cockerel Broke Part of Beak

Cockerel hatched in June, three years of chickens and this has never happened. I went out to the run today and his beak was like this. Have a vet appt tomorrow but is there anything I can do for him this evening?

I have meloxicam but I don’t know if I want to try and get it in his mouth safely (no aspiration nor hurt him worse). Poor guy.

Probably best just to keep it clean until the vet can take a look. It at least looks like a pretty small area.

I honestly wouldn't bother with the vet, it is sensitive but he'll grow it back in a few weeks.

I would offer him some mash to eat since it might be painful and sensitive to eat regular pellets but he'll be OK. This can happen and it will grow back.
