She is a Bantam Millie defluer cochin cross. She's can't weight more than a lb.. She is 1 year old.
So I had quite an adventure with my birds. A little over a month back they had wetpox/fowl pox. We got through that and most of the flock seems fine. Well I noticed she was backing up and shaking her head so I took her into the vet. I gave her 3 days worth of antibiotics about a week ago. She is broody so I didn't see her out for awhile. I did today and noticed she is doing it worse than b4.. Upon closer inspection I noticed the top of her beak is turning black and has a chip in the middle. I know this is not the result of bullying as she has been in my broody/growout pen. I am super scared for her. She has 2 fake and 1 real egg under her. I was planning on trading her fake eggs out for babies when my incubator babies hatch. The live egg died. I left it since there are only 2 days left untill hatch.
What is this? Should I put babies with her? I think babies could help by getting her back out in the sun but I don't want to give them an infectious disease. Thank you
Update: No vet is available until Monday to see her..

I have seen her eat and drink. It's hard to say though because she is broody and doesn't come out much. I don't think she could have cracked her beak. She did panic a little when I put her in the broody pen however she calmed down and I didn't notice any injuries. She just sits on those eggs all the time now..

I was just cleaning out her pen and I found white mold. Appearently it was wet under a base that I put under the water. I cleaned it up without thinking to take a picture. I removed the base and cleaned up all visible mold. It should dry by tomorrow but I'll check. Could mold have caused this??

Could it be a beak necrosis caused by a brooder type pneumonia?? Ugggg poor girl.. When I picked her up I noticed she has lost some weight too..

Could she have cracked or injured her beak at the base on fencing or something hard? Is she eating okay?
Broodies will sometimes get pale and lose weight because they aren't feeding well while they sit. The beak looks like an injury to me, it should gradually grow out.
I don't think so but perhaps it is possible I missed an injury that got worse after her freakout.

It is difficult to never have a moldy spot under a drinker or feeder if there is moisture, especially outside. I usually just scrape it up if I find one. Try to keep your coop and run dry and prevent spills.

I think I'll just keep it where it is without a base for now. Chicks are hatching so I am afraid to move her right now. She already has a baby under her. I mixed an ounce of coconut oil with a 3 drops of tea tree just in case it is fungal. I used it on a wound of mine. It had a chilling sensation but didn't sting. She actually calmed down while I was putting it on her. I hope it heals soon..
