No, she is still sweet as can be. All she is doing that’s different, is she growls a lot.Is she "mean"? I know hens get overprotective when broody, so I was just wondering...

Do you know how many eggs she has under her? That’s nice! Pretty cool that she went broody in winter!
Beanie I’m dying. ASK!!!only if she asks![]()
None. She’s sitting on one golf ball.Do you know how many eggs she has under her?
Oh. Are you planning on putting some eggs under her?None. She’s sitting on one golf ball.
Possibly, but we don’t know for sure yet. Either way, we would need to make sure she’s serious about it. We don’t want to give her eggs before she’s ready.Oh. Are you planning on putting some eggs under her?
So, you encouraged her to go broody?
Gotcha. I would never break a broody, but that’s just mePossibly, but we don’t know for sure yet. Either way, we would need to make sure she’s serious about it. We don’t want to give her eggs before she’s ready.
You can’t really encourage a hen to go broody. They do it on their own, and they won’t stop until you either give them eggs or break their broodiness. She’s got it handled. She knows what she’s doing.
Technically you could leave eggs out to encourage broodiness, but it is caused by hormones. Some birds will go broody on NOTHING, like my Lacey.Possibly, but we don’t know for sure yet. Either way, we would need to make sure she’s serious about it. We don’t want to give her eggs before she’s ready.
