Bear attack?

I had hives knocked over twice after stringing hot wire. Tinfoil and peanut butter, and I haven’t had any more encounters.

To each their own I guess.

Good friend of mine has 9 hives. 3 in each hotwire enclosure. Never baited a single one of them. Maybe the difference was he had a hot wire to start. Didn't let them get a taste of honey before he put up the hot wire.

I've got a hot wire around my dumpster. Bear keeps taking several bags every other week. Once I added the hot wire, not a bad missing. Definitely didn't bait the hotwire. Luckily, I haven't had any issues with it trying to get into the coop. I think the dogs are helping there as the coop is much closer to the house then the dumpster.

Well, baiting does work....doesn't mean you have to do it.

Sorry, not buying it. See no reason to bait the bear to a hotwire. I've been around them and hunted them. They sniff "everything" Leary of "everything". Only when they feel comfortable with the situation will they investigate further.

No way in heck would I put bacon or PB on my hotwire bringing them closer " intentionally" to my coop.

Any man who has a pic of a whole hog BBQ as his avatar needs to be listened to and listened well!

I have never actually seen a predator touch my electric wires but I have heard them.

I was gunna wait to get hot wire, but the bear has attacked someone else in the neiborhood’s chickens and it has me really scared. How much money is Hotwire? I’m not sure if my parents would get it .
