bears, hawks, raccoons, etc.

yes my dog would be like that too, although we gave her away. she was always a very motherly character. even when i caught a baby bunny she was like its mom. althought she would catch the pests and kill them and or eat them...:D
Our Husky, "Moki" chose us! One day he was trying to enter our "backyard" to play with our dogs. He was skinny and afraid. I gave him some food and he warmed up to me. Later when the chickens ran and squawked he killed one. They free ranged all over, they were not penned up at all. I got mad and we took him to the animal shelter 30 miles away. He was not my dog and I didn't want my chickens killed! Almost one month passed and suddenly he's at our house again! I'm assuming someone claimed him who lives in our area and he came back to us. At that point I took photos of him to the shelter and asked them to contact the owner again, as they wouldn't give me the owner's information. After another month (at which time we had bonded with Moki) the shelter called and said they couldn't reach the owner and if we wanted him we could keep him. We said we did, took him down for shots and a microchip. Now we have 4 dogs! We ended up enclosing the chicken run area and keeping Moki. He protects "his" property, not necessarily the livestock. He is one of two dogs we let "run" out in the "front" yard. He sticks very close to me. We live 30 miles outside town in the foothills. We have 20 acres and our closest neighbors are 1/2 away! It's heaven! Sorry for the rant! Thanks for reading. :hugs
