Bears...

I also wanted to say our birds were so terrified that they hid, while the attack happened they were SO silent. Some may come back. Our pigeons were outside and got picked off by other predators because they were to scared to enter the coop. It took WEEKS for our birds to seem semi normal and months for them to recover. We did get some pigeons in. I was afraid that I would have the bear inside trying to get the birds.

thanks. the only thing is...we actually haven't seen it. some people down the road that have goats said they saw it and its HUGE. this isnt the first time he's tried to get into the coop. we're gonna see if fish and wildlife will trap it and at least relocate it...but with what its done...ugh.

someone said to put bacon near the fence to they shock their face/nose...good idea? anyone try this?

Where in NJ are you? I'm in Warren County, near Blairstown. I was just going to post a question asking if anyone has had problems with bears and their chicken coops. I guess I got my answer. That's not good news

I haven't seen any, yet. But the first week they came out, my compost bin was knocked over. I'd gotten lazy and hadn't turned the fresh stuff in a bit.

Last week the garbage cans up and down the street were mauled. I don't have that problem, because we don't put our garbage out. It's bagged and canned in the garage, and gets taken to work with me every day.
