We have 22 hens and a rooster but ALL the hens seem to pick on just ONE little gal. The group is coming up on just one year and it seems to be getting worse and worse.

Should I pull her out and let her grow her tail feathers back OR leave her be?? I've got so much blu-cote on her she looks like a punk-rocker. She just looks so incredibly pathetic and we feel bad for her always being beat up on.

If I pull her out, won't she get lonely by herself?
THANKS in advance

Don't know if this will help or not, but you could try the hanging cabbage trick. Hanging it up to give them something other than your hen topick at hopefully..
Hope it helps a little bit. She could just be the bottom of the pecking order, or they could possibly be bored. Anyother hen being picked at?

I would put her out and let her feathers grow back. If they start to get blood when they're pecking, it's all over with--they could kill her in a matter of hours. Have you noticed if she has a buddy that you could put her out with? It makes it easier when re-introducing them.

Yes, definitely do separate, and do try to pull the next lowest one on the dominance ladder out for company for your poor girl. Good luck!
