We caught the fair in Beaumont Saturday. Saw some beautiful chickens there. I would have thought there would have been more breeds represented but what was there was very nice. We especially liked the Polish(with the beautiful tops) and all the roos crowing. Anybody win anything?

we did! we did!

my son took his polish (puffy wuffy) and my mottled houdan to the show. they took best of breed and champion continental class which earned him a blue ribbon and a huge trophy. came home with $26.50 which he promptly spent at walmart.

i was also hoping for more birds also. the next big show is at A&M in january. we will definitely be bringing more birds to that show. the entry fee was only $1.50.

we're thinking of bringing our trio of bantam frizzled white cochins, blrw cockeral, phoenix cockeral (hopefully, his tail will be much longer by then), the polish pair, the houdan pair, some orps and cochins, and our trio of crele oeg along with a black silkie roo. i think they also have a jr section where you can bring mutts so Buster may bring little blue and partrige.

we really need to get the word out about these shows. it wasn't that hard to show our chickens and Buster had a grand time. especially getting that trophy. i finally pryed it out of his hands this morning when he went to school.

Well CONGRATULATIONS Buster! I'm sure we saw your prize winning birds but just didn't know they were yours!

Wish we would have known you were there - we really enjoyed those Polish's and would like to know exactly which was yours.

Give more info about the one in January - might be ready for a little weekend get-away by then.

as soon as i get more info, i'll definitely let you know. i do know it's the first saturday in january. the guy who does the testing around here, is one of the guys putting it together and he knows we want to show again so i should be getting the information soon.

our polis was in the standard section. the beautiful polish were the bantam polish. he had that blow dryer out and everything making sure they were pretty. i actually gave him my name and number. he's going to call me when he decides to cull again his flock.

i wish we had met you also. will definitely have to get together for a chat if you go to the A&M show.

Yes the Bluebonnet Special is the 5th of January at the Louis Pearce Pavilion in College Station. The main judge this year is Brian Decker from Washington. If y'all want a show catalog then just e-mail me at [email protected]. My wife is responsible for mailing them out and I will have her send you one.

My birds got to go to the show at Beaumont but I didn't, sometimes I think that its not fair but it happens.
