Beautiful barnevelder-leghorn mix 12 weeks

Are you sure her mom was the Barnie?
I see a Silkie.
My friend did have silkie hens in her flock- she had 2 silkies, 2 barnevelders, and the white rooster. We got 7 eggs from her to put under my broody hen- 2 small whitish silkie eggs and 5 large brown eggs (darker brown than the eggs we get from our Rhode Island reds and blue australorps, and less pointy, more round- but quite large, definitely not silkie). 2 of the big brown eggs hatched, the other 3 brown eggs and the 2 little silkie eggs didn’t hatch, it was my broody’s first time. I’ll see if I can find a pic of the eggs

No egg pics. Here is what she looked like as a younger chick, in case that helps.

Are you sure the silkies we’re not mixes? They may have looked like pure silkies and not have been. That could explain the crest and 4 toes, the silkie mom may have had barnevelder mixed in? I’m just taking a guess because she is not that roo with a barnevelder.

Well, I entered all scenarios of color genetic combos that the white roo could have crossed with the Barnevelder color pattern and there's just no way he's the papa. Definitely had to be a crested melanistic roo in the neighborhood....or one of your friend's silkies was a roo.... and no, the offspring wouldn't necessarily have 5 toes. She's beautiful none the less :)
